Eaton hosts live panel event in recognition of National Electrical Safety Month

WARRENDALE, PA — Power management company Eaton today announced, in recognition of National Electrical Safety Month, it is bringing together experts for a special livestream panel event titled, “A Holistic Approach to Electrical Safety: Education, Compliance and Accountability.” Moderated by Brett Brenner, president, Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI), the panel will discuss critical trends, issues and technologies impacting electrical safety and code education in 2018. The discussion is broadcasting from the Eaton Experience Center in Warrendale, Pa., via Eaton’s Facebook Live stream on May 31, 2018 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. EDT.

Each year in May, the ESFI recognizes National Electrical Safety Month, an annual campaign to educate key audiences about steps to reduce the incidents of electrical-related fires, fatalities, injuries and property loss. The theme for the 2018 campaign is “Understanding the Code that Keeps us Safe,” focusing on the importance of education around the National Electrical Code (NEC) and its three-year cycle.

“Adoption of the NEC and an understanding of its intricacies are essential to ensuring safety for professionals and the customers they serve,” said Thomas A. Domitrovich, P.E., LEED AP – Vice President, Technical Sales, Bussmann Division, Eaton. “Yet code education is only one component of a comprehensive approach to electrical safety. It’s essential that everyone from industry professionals to consumers understand their role in furthering safety education and the tools and resources available to make improved safety a reality.”

Moderator: 

• Brett Brenner, President, ESFI: For more than 11 years, Brenner has served as president of ESFI. In that time, he has grown the foundation’s revenue, impact and reach while expanding the availability of electrical safety resources for a broad variety of audiences.

Panelists:

• Thomas A. Domitrovich, P.E., LEED AP – Vice President, Technical Sales, Bussmann Division, Eaton: Domitrovich is actively involved with multiple industry organizations and sits on the NFPA Code Making Panel 2 for the continued development of the NEC (NFPA 70).
• Kevin Lippert, Manager, Codes & Standards, Eaton: Lippert is heavily involved with promoting electrical safety standardization through participation with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the National Electrical Manufacturer’s Association (NEMA) and multiple other organizations.
• Todd Lottmann, Commercial Product Line Manager, Eaton: Lottmann has worked in the electrical industry for more than 20 years and has been involved in safety training and arc flash hazards analysis for over 15 years. He is a current principle member on NEC code making panel 12.
• James T. Dollard Jr., Safety Coordinator, IBEW Local 98: Dollard brings 37 years of experience in electrical construction. He has been a member of NEC committees since the 1999 revision cycle and presently serves on the NEC Correlating Committee, CMP-10 and CMP-13.
